This is a very informative article by @ellenroseman via @TorontoStar on retirement in general, raising questions everybody should answer before making changes in lifestyle.

The first question raises some points on when to take your CPP. To me, as life is uncertain, most people should take it as early as possible.

Here, as in the following points, you must consider your health and that of your partner. Hanging on to capital or waiting to take potential income, doesn't make sense if one of you is not well.

And replacement of health benefits is important too. If you've been protected from these costs during your working life you may be surprised by the cost, even if you can get them.

Most of all, talk it all out before proceeding.
