I want to comment on the article “Surprise! Annuities Beat RRIFs” which appeared last Saturday in the National Post.
While thee debate of annuities versus RRIFs goes on continually, in fact there is probably a correct way for different groups of people to invest.
For those without large company pensions, an annuity brings higher, regular income to help make sure that monthly expenses are covered.
Otherwise RRIFs could be considered, if loss of investment return in the RRIF does not threaten your standard of living.
The numbers at the end of the article ” annuities vs RRIFs ” story tells the tale.
But neither longevity nor health questions are covered and both are extremely important. I intend to write an article onthese points.
